What To Use To Clean Carpet

You can keep your carpets clean without the use of heavy cleaning equipment. It’s essential to take a step back and realize that there are effective ways to keep your carpet looking neat without technology. So, what to use to clean the carpet?

What To Use To Clean Carpet

Many DIY carpet cleaners will work for you and your carpet type, whether you are spot-cleaning a recent accident or tidying up as part of your regular home care routine. These are some of the best non-toxic carpet cleaning products.

Water, Vinegar, and Salt

Fill a big spray bottle halfway with water and vinegar, two parts water and one part vinegar. Combine the vinegar and water in a spray bottle, then add one teaspoon of salt per cup of water. The salt is not for seasoning; it aids in binding stain particles.

To add a deodorizing effect, offer approximately ten drops of essential oil per cup of water. Pick a clear essential oil rather than one with any color to avoid staining your carpet. Lavender is a familiar aroma in cleaning products, but you may also try lime, peppermint, juniper, or geranium, depending on the scent scenario you want to create in the space.

Shake to blend, then spray the mixture on the soiled spot or across the carpet. Wait for it to dry before vacuuming over it.

If you don’t have a spray container, you can dab the solution onto a spot with a towel. Again, dab rather than rub.

Vinegar + Baking Soda + Water

The standard baking soda and vinegar combination is helpful for more than just science fair volcanoes. To begin, sprinkle baking soda over the damaged area. If you want to boost the deodorizing power, add a few drops of colorless essential oil. Allow the baking soda to lie on top of the stain for at least an hour, preferably overnight.

In a spray bottle, combine equal parts vinegar and water, then spritz the mixture on top of the baking soda. You should hear an excellent fizzing sound. After the fizzing has stopped, wipe the area with a clean towel to remove the mixture. For really resistant places, you may need to repeat the treatment.

Borax + Baking Soda + Cornstarch + Cornmeal

Try this DIY network recipe if you need a dry natural carpet or rug cleaning.

Combine 2 cups of baking soda, 1/2 cup cornmeal, 1/2 cup cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of borax, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 2-3 dried bay leaves. Blend until the bay leaves are ground into a fine powder, and the mixture is homogeneous but inconsistent. After removing the mixture from the food processor, place it in an airtight container.

Before applying, make sure the surface is dry. The powder should then be sprinkled over the rug or carpet to be cleaned. Brush it throughout the surface with a broom or a hand brush for maximum coverage and absorption into the fibers, leaving it on for as long as possible, up to overnight. You should not consume borax if you have pets or children in the house. Then, when you’ve exhausted your powdered patience, vacuum it up.

AZ Carpet Cleaning

Vinegar + Salt + Borax

Begin by adding equal amounts of salt, borax, and vinegar to a small bowl or similar container. You’ll end up with a paste that you can apply to your carpet.

Wear gloves whenever possible during this process, especially if you’re cleaning up something disgusting. The gloves will reduce the spread of bacteria from the stain-causing ingredient (please do not touch body fluids bare-handed) and your skin contact with the irritating borax.

Allow the paste to remain for a few hours, or at least until it’s dry after massaging it into the stained area. Make sure that no children or pets in your house consume the combination. Then vacuum it up and throw it away. If the stain remains after the paste has been removed, you can scrape it with a moist towel, which you can occasionally rinse if this continues for a while. Vacuum again when the water has dried, just in case.

Vaporized Steam

Straight water is unquestionably the most straightforward and effortless approach to keeping things clean. There are no dangerous chemical reactions or accidental ingestions to be concerned about; it is simply one component that comes directly from your faucet.

Remember: For more complex cleaning, call a carpet cleaning company.
